Description:
Cliona is a boring sponge, hollowing out chambers connected by thin galleries in the shell of another organism, usually a bivalve. The cavities get filled by flint and the shell dissolves leaving this characteristic pattern. (Many thanks to Colin Scrutton, OU study advisor for this description.)
